Brynn Barry, M.Ed., LPC

Practice Owner/Therapist

Brynn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Arizona who specializes in treating relational (attachment), complex and childhood trauma and addiction. She has received advanced training, certification and consultation on the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an 8-phase approach that targets negative belief schemas formed from trauma and adversity. She is also passionate about helping individuals achieve an empowered, integrated self-concept through the lens of internal family systems theory.

Brynn understands the importance of building a strong connection with a counselor. She is deeply invested in understanding her clients, and her interest in advancing her knowledge and tending to her mind and body shine through as a genuine dedication to wellness. She opened Desert Oak Counseling with the hope of creating a practice of trauma-informed care that leaves a lasting impact on the clients who choose it.

Brynn has experience working with a wide variety of clientele in the community and in a private practice setting. She started her mental health career providing support for individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) in residential homes, transitional housing and in permanent placement. While she was obtaining her Master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University, she provided art therapy to inmates in the local jail and facilitated LGBTQIA+ support groups. For her internships, she worked with college and school-age students as well as adult refugees with the assistance of interpreters. Once she obtained her degree, she worked as an addiction and trauma therapist for adults with AHCCCS (Medicaid). Her empathy and interest in understanding addiction and trauma expanded, which led her to pursue specialized training in both areas.

Brynn is also a Board-approved clinical supervisor. She uses her experience and knowledge to provide clinical supervision to associate-level licensed clinicians. In addition to facilitating transformation in her clients, she hopes to positively influence other clinicians who are developing their own professional identity in the field.
